Princess Heights marketing director wins dance competition
Princess Heights Luxury Boutique Condo Hotel marketing director Veronique van der Stek and her partner Davy Pivert have won the Salsa, Merengue and Bachata competition on Carnival’s Latin night on Saturday. According to the daily herald the couple gave a most remarkable show. They won two airline tickets, US $1,000 and two Chippie cellular phones.
“We want to use the tickets and money to attend a salsa congress with workshops and competitions in Puerto Rico,” Veronique said to the newspaper.
It was her first time Veronique had ever entered a salsa competition after five years of dance experience. “We were pretty stressed out, because everything went by so fast. I barely had time to change or have a moment in between,” she said. “But it was so much fun.”
One of the judges, Pip Goggin, said Veronique and Davy were a “world class” dance couple and their performance had been “exceptional, sensational.” He was impressed with all four competitors in the finals, though.
“They had very little time to prepare and they did extremely well,” he said. “I was very surprised by their professionalism, because I do not think any of them had ever performed for such a large crowd.”
